Expressing so beautifully the emergent thoughts I have been contemplating recently. And so much in my field is jumping out at me to reverberate these same themes.
Something which draws oneself immediately in the present.
It Solves all mental hustle and put you there to work in the present.
The work through our presence, the work on land and not on some space where every distracted soul is operating in society. The work which is a dive into us! heals us! at the same time addresses all distractions of this complex society we are living..today..
Thank you for this. Would love links if you have time!
I’m close enough to the Hudson valley to want to learn more about these communities and “Christian Alexander” AND “the primary school” doesn’t return anything relevant.
Thanks for wanting to go deeper. there was a typo, I meant Christopher Alexander. Check out https://www.patternlanguage.com. His work on pattern languages and placemaking feels, to me, like the future speaking through patterns, even if he never said it quite that way.
The “upstate” reference came from a conversation with a friend who’s building something there; I didn’t name specifics to avoid leaving others out. But it gives me a good idea for a future post that highlights particular places more directly.
Nicolas - love your writing. It's also quite syntropic and synchronous that YouTube recommended Christopher Alexander to me yesterday. Paul - I searched for "intentional communities in the lower hudson valley" in Google and it came up with a good number of results. I am considering moving up to that area as well - I grew up in NYC and live in Houston now.
Wow... I love stumbling onto your work. Thank you! So much is crumbling and shifting to a whole new world... you've helped me put words to these ideas.
"We are no longer builders of futures. We are stewards of emergence. Listening posts for the possible.
Hope, then, is not located in distant utopias or perfected systems. It is found in the fidelity of attention. In attunement to what is most alive. In the courage to act not from certainty, but from coherence."
Amazing article. So true as a climate person for the last 25 years. So much needed now to sense and follow the attractors to the future which we need to follow.
Well said! Exactly why it’s most important to cultivate trust in our internal gps - our intuition - than anything else!
Spectacular. Syntropy needs to be better known but they tell me it even keeps getting taken off Wikipedia...
Love this! We practice Syntropic agroforestry on our farm and deeply resonate with this philosophy as a way of life and sense making.

Most important.
Beautifully expressed and on point! 🙏🏼👏🏼
